New age lightbulbs have recently hit the shelves, and by switching some in your house, you could save a ton of energy. One compact fluorescent can reduce up to 1,300 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution during its lifetime.
3. Choose A Laptop Over A Desktop
Laptops are designed to be way more energy efficient than a desktop. Research shows laptops can be up to 80% more energy-efficient than a desktop.
4. Filter Your Own Water
Now this one should be a no-brainer for most people, however, some still need convincing. Filtering your own water is very easy today, and could cause a huge positive impact on the environment. Many of the plastic water bottles sold in stores do not get recycled and end up in landfills. However, one water pitcher filter can replace close to 300 standard 16.9 oz. plastic water bottles.
5. Close Or Open Your Curtains
Adjusting the temperature in your house can consume a lot of energy and your money. However, simple techniques such as opening and closing your curtains can make a huge impact.
